Widgets are slow to update - why?

If you experience that your dashboards and widgets are slow to update, there are some things you can do to improve it.

Data source import frequency

Plecto only updates widgets after it receives new data from a data source. Try checking what the frequency of these updates is, and increase it, if the integration supports it.

If you experience that new data is in Plecto, but the widgets didn't update for a long time, have a look at other possible causes below.

Very long formula

A very long and complicated formula might have a big impact on the speed of updates. If you have a formula with over 50 lines, consider re-structuring your data so you can write a shorter formula in Plecto.

Showing too many custom groups

When using custom group by, be careful at the number of groups it will return. It's generally a bad idea to group by a field that has hundreds of unique values. This will very often make the widget very slow to update. Consider using a Timeline widget instead.

Showing too many teams or employees

If your widget is showing a lot of employees or filtering on hundreds of teams, please consider deleting unused ones.
