Step 1: Get the Client ID and Secret for Zendesk Chat

To integrate Zendesk Chat with Plecto, will ask for your Zendesk subdomain, Client ID and Client Secret. To obtain these credentials, follow the steps below. For more information, read Zendesk's help article on Zendesk Chat API.

  1. Open a new browser tab.

  2. Log in as admin and go to Zendesk Chat > Account > API & SDKs.

  3. Click on Add API Client and fill out these fields:

    1. Client Name (for example, Plecto)

    2. Company (for example, the name of your company)

    3. Redirect URLs: https://app.plecto.com/admin/data-sources/zendesk_chat/oauth/callback/

  4. Click the Create API Client button. You should now see your Client ID and Client Secret.

  5. Open your Plecto browser tab and continue with Step 2.

Step 2: Integrate Zendesk Chat with Plecto

  1. Go to Data management > Data sources > + New data source > Zendesk Chat.

  2. Enter your company's subdomain or full domain. You can find it in the URL when logged in to your Zendesk Chat account. Subdomain is usually the first part of a full domain: company.zendesk.com

  3. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret.

  4. Click Next to continue.

  5. Select the data you want to import.

  6. Configure your data source settings. Here, you can change the title, choose the default date, select which fields to import, and more.

  7. Click Next to choose how much data to import and how long you want to keep it in the data source.

  8. Click Import to finish.

Currently, you can import the following data from Zendesk Chat to Plecto:

  • Agent Timeline

  • Chats

  • Metrics
