Important updates in Google Ads API
Google is making changes and migrating their Google AdWords API to a new Google Ads API. The current Google AdWords API will reach its end of life on April 27, 2022.
What does it mean?
It means that we at Plecto – same as all other Google Ads integration partners – have to migrate to the new Google Ads API. Due to the changes, we cannot migrate your data to the upgraded integration for you. Therefore, you have to replace your current Google Ads data sources manually by April 27. Follow the instructions here.
If you don't replace the data sources, your current Google Ads data sources will stop importing data after April 27.
What to do now?
All you have to do is add new Google Ads data sources. You can use the same credentials as before. Along with the update, there comes a new data type you can import – Keywords Performance. Once added, run a manual data import to get all your data back in Plecto.
Data types
Our integration with Google Ads allows you to import the following data types:
- Ads Performance
- Keywords Performance
- Performance Max campaigns
For each data type you import, Plecto will create one data source and list it under Data management > Data sources. Visit our Google Ads integration page to find the technical details, such as the update frequency, custom field support, automatic data deletion, and more.
Note on Performance Max campaigns
Adding the Performance Max campaigns data type is beneficial to those customers who use the Performance Max campaigns. Since Performance Max campaigns doesn't get listed in either Ads Performance or Keywords Performance data sources, we've added it as a separate data type that you can import to keep track of your campaigns.
Learn more about the technical side of Performance Max campaigns API in Google's developer docs.
Connect Google Ads to Plecto

- (Optional) Toggle the Advanced settings to customize the data source titles and change the default dates used in formulas.

Account list
When adding a Google Ads data source to Plecto, you need to choose which account Plecto should connect. The list will not include management accounts (MCC) because these accounts do not contain any metrics.
